Bee bears are superficially similar to bear birds, which SEE. However, where bear birds have only two paws bee bears have six. Bee bears colonies live in hives, as do bees - and they defend their hives as fiercely as any bees ever did. While all the claws of a bundle-bee do only as much damage as a single dagger, and a wee-bee does only a single point of damage, as a swarm, their numbers add up.
More "realistic" bee-bears have bat-like wings and mouse-like body proportions. Those with a touch of fae blood may have insect-type long, retractable siphon-tongues, wings and a stinger, like real bees.
Bee bears build combs of clay-plastered straw or leaves. Depending on the habitat, the hive may be built in a hollow trunk or log, in the crotch of a branching tree, or underground, using an abandoned woodchuck borrow or other hole as the start of their further excavations.
While bee bears cannot make their own honey, they do fill their hives with sweets. This may be honey stolen from real bees or it may be sweet syrup distilled from maple and birch tree sap or sweet herbs and grasses.
