Rope-Root Cactus

The only sign of the rope-root colony is what looks like a scattering of small, innocuous barrel cacti. These surface growths are but a fraction of this vegimal trap; the bulk of the beast is a network of roots, like a net of sturdy ropes, spread between them beneath the surface sand.

When prey walks across the net, it curls shut, twisting and binding. The small barrel cacti are then used to pummel the prey into submission while the net squeezes and constricts.

Colonies can move about slowly, rearranging themselves or taking advantage of natural features. When a colony overgrows its site, part of the colony will migrate - with devastating effect on those whose territories they migrate through.
