Ship-Foul, General

SEE Hull-Foul for the challenges to the sailors of the seas of salt-water and sand, of ice and cloud; here, the special problems of space ships are considered. Spaceships are given this separate category because they are susceptible to the fouling of more than just their hulls; spaceships are susceptible to energy leeches, insulation eaters, and a wide assortment of other vermin that infest high-tech environments. Many of these may be applicable to environments other than just spaceships, and possibly to other environments.

It may seem fantastical to some that there should be life forms so exotic as to live in the depths of space, but, trillions of years of intelligent travel through generation after generation of universes yields a practically infinite number of occasions for the most remote of infinitesimal occurrences to arise. This unimaginably long history of travel, through space and dimensions stranger still, has also, in and of itself, provided the time and opportunity for specialized adaptations of ship-parasites and other exotic life forms.

SEE also False-Fiber Fungus-worms, Radiation Leeches, Waveries, and Wire-Coasters; there are also exotic equivalents of the "low-tech" troublemakers mentioned as Hull-Foul.
