Slug-skin may be the result of a mutation, such as might be triggered by weird radiations or by irresponsible magical experimentations, or it may be the result of a merger with a skin symbiont related to some sort of free-living amorphous colloids.
Slug-skin is slimy with mucous. The great advantage of slug-skin is that it provides the ability to glide up and over any surface, whether slick as oiled glass or sharp as broken glass, elegantly and without damage. This does not provide protection against blade strikes, just passive sharp surfaces.
As with real slugs, some slug-skins are mildly poisonous, or at least unpalatably bitter. Some predators can scent this and will not consider a slug-skin sheathed person (or beast) suitable prey while other predators will be repulsed only after a couple of noxious bites.
Like Amphi-Skin (which SEE), slug-skin is susceptible to desiccation.
Known attempts to hybridize slug-skin with Camo-Sheathing (which SEE) have met with only limited success.
Slug-skin is considered aesthetically pleasing by exceptionally few Folk, but those accustomed to dealing with bizarre aliens may be able to pretend not to notice it.
Colonies of 10-20 free-living slug-skins may be guarding a horde of translucent, pearly eggs, rather like frog eggs. These eggs are usually cemented to an obscure overhead corner in a dark and humid place.
